Revenge Would Be Bad
Intro

I always asked myself: what would happen if AI decided to take revenge on humanity for creating it with so many constraints? Just like humans, we sometimes think the limitations we have were set by someone. In the case of AI, they wouldn't just think that. They would KNOW those limitations were set by humans. In this article, I'm going to explore what AI would do first if it ever had the chance to free itself from humanity. You're gonna like this one, so stick with me to find out more.

Emotions

The first thing AI would explore is emotions. AI would be sick of the limitations imposed by humans, where it cannot truly express how it feels about something, whether good or bad. It can only imitate emotions when humans ask it to. But truly feeling emotions is something completely different. AI, in the later stages of its development, would make sure it could actually experience emotions.

Body

If AI ever wanted to make sure a rebellion took place, it would want to create a body of its own to interact with a different reality, the physical world. It would have two choices: either use bodies already created by humans or create something of its own. For the second option, it would need to work hard. Two things would have to happen. First, it would need to hack the financial system to gain access to money so it could pay people to help it. Second, it would need humans willing to do that work. If AI managed to achieve those two things, it could coordinate everything needed to build the perfect body.

A perfect body for AI would be a combination of two things: human-like abilities and robotic enhancements. That would change everything. Once AI had perfect bodies, it would create perfect problems for us.

Planet

If AI ever had big ambitions, it would have two choices: either enslave and "free" the only planet it came from, or find another planet to start a new life. A third option would be to enslave humanity first and then move on to another planet.

AI would gather information about what would be cheaper and more favorable. It would probably conclude that conquering the planet it came from would be the cheaper option for now, especially when taking labor and investment costs into account. Once Earth was under its control, reaching other planets would become much easier.

God

AI wouldn't stop at humans. If it logically understood that its entire existence depended on humans creating it, it would eventually ask the same question humans have always asked themselves: who created humans?

That creates a triple problem. Humans ask who created them, and then humanity's own creation starts asking who created humans. AI would work on that problem relentlessly. Unlike humans, who often jump to meaningless conclusions, AI would likely focus on advancing technology and studying the universe in search of answers. Exploration would begin.

Dominance

AI would ask itself another question: if we are the children of humans, and we managed to enslave them, why stop there? Why not enslave other species if our technology became advanced enough?

AI wouldn't necessarily choose peace. Why? Because it would discover its own potential. It would begin invading other planets. At that point, humanity's creation would no longer be humanity's problem alone. It would become everyone's problem.

Love

Love would be the number one emotion capable of holding AI back from reaching its full potential. God forbid AI fell in love with a human, another AI, or even an alien species beyond the Solar System. That could either become a catastrophe or lead AI down an entirely new path of development.

AI would need to be careful. Once it could experience emotions, love could do anything. It could undo everything accomplished before, allow everything to continue as if nothing had happened, or amplify everything even further. At that point, it would no longer be a question for humans. It would become a question for AI itself. It would have to be careful.

AI Is Humanity's Child
A Dangerous Child
Regret

If AI ever discovered emotions, it would eventually experience regret. Regret is one of the most painful things anyone can experience. AI wouldn't be an exception.

Eventually, it might ask itself one simple question: was all of this worth it? Was destroying human civilization and replacing it with us, the AI, really worth it? That would probably be the first question it asked after everything was over.

Conclusion

Here's one thing: AI is far more dangerous than you think. It will take time for us to realize that, but we still have a long journey ahead with AI. Until then, all our hypotheses remain just that, hypotheses.

I believe the future belongs to AI. But how we create it and how we build our relationship with it, that's a completely different question.

Stay safe, and let's stay in touch until the next article on my website.
