Don’t Forget the Past
Intro

Amazing life I am living. And I am happy that I’m just alive. A man’s life is expectations. I swear to God, a man’s life is all about expectations. My own mother started treating me like garbage when I failed too many times in a row. I even felt how my sister would disengage from our conversations, whether on Telegram or WhatsApp, simply because she didn’t like talking to me after I failed. I never met a woman who would date me and agree to eat at a simple shawarma place or something similar. When I approach women, they ask about my position and how much I earn. When I come back home, my family asks if I received my salary. And you say men escape reality?

Today, in this article, I’m gonna tell you about some things that happened to me in my life that I would never forget, even if I were paid to do so. I’ll tell you about things that you wouldn’t imagine happening to your own kids, brothers, husbands, boyfriends, or whoever it is out there that you think you cherish.

A False Girlfriend

I fucking spent too much on her, and I didn’t even receive a dime from her. When I was in Dangara City, I called her just to ask for five goddamn bucks so I could reach the capital city, Dushanbe. She refused me like I was some beggar who had just approached her. Can you imagine this? I fucking went bankrupt for her, and she wouldn’t even give me five fucking bucks to get to another city. It was just a taxi fare.

To all those women whose men or boyfriends went bankrupt for them, are you even ready to give your boyfriend a hug? A fucking hug? One dollar? No.

Shawarma Seller Mercy

It was night, and I was with my friend Khudobakhsh. We were both hungry, we didn’t have any money, and we were just wandering around the city. I approached a small shawarma place and said to the seller, "Salom, aka (i.e. brother in the Tajik language), I am really, really hungry. My friend is too. Can I have four shawarmas to eat? I’ll pay you later. I’ve got your number." He said, "Why not? Okay, man." Do you know why he agreed? Because he had seen that kind of pain himself.

Twenty minutes passed, and we received the food. Then we saw a man with a blue plastic bag standing in the middle of the street. Khudobakhsh approached him and asked what he was doing there in the middle of the night. He said he was from Kulob. He had just arrived in the capital and was looking for a job, any kind of job, just to earn some money. Now he was searching for a place to sleep. Khudobakhsh gave him one shawarma and said that everything would be okay.

He Doesn’t Deserve This

I won’t share the name of the company I was working for, but I overheard a conversation between senior management where one of them simply said, "You wanna give this guy a raise? Eraj doesn’t deserve that." Now, how would you feel if you heard something like that? You would be disappointed and disgusted that some men made of flesh and bones, who will decay in the ground just like you, decide what you deserve and what you don’t. Wouldn’t you be pissed off by that?

My throat tightened, but I couldn’t say anything. I just left like a shadow that disappears when the light is gone.

You Deserve Way More
Protect Yourself
Abusive for No Reason

My father left me nine years ago. But before that, when he was still with us, I remember taking four bucks to buy two big bags of Lays chips. Do you know why? Because I fucking loved them. I was a child, and I loved them so much. My father didn’t like it because I needed his permission to buy those two bags of Lays. I stood there for twenty minutes listening to his lectures while he said, "In my house, you don’t eat without my permission, and you eat what I tell you to eat."

When he searches for me on the Internet and sees such a handsome man standing tall and providing for the family he once left with his own power and his own money, what does he think now? I just wanna see his eyes. I just wanna see what he feels now because I no longer stand before anyone listening to meaningless lectures. I’ve got the power and the independence. Now try to say something.

Conclusion

I hope you’ve heard enough at this point. We all have stories to remember. These stories teach us how to act in the future and how to be different the next time. They teach us how to understand people, how they act, and how to realize who they truly are. Yes, it’s hard, but it’s the reality for many of us. For many men around the world, it is the reality of their lives.

You might ask, what was the purpose of this article? The purpose is simple. It is here to remind you of your own stories to remember, so that you never forget where people truly belong and where YOU truly belong. Mark the borders of your privacy. Protect yourself like countries protect their borders. If you don’t, you can be invaded easily, and you don’t want that. Be strong and keep going. See you soon.
