Intro
Greetings and welcome to the next article on my website. Today, we are talking about those cases when you are struggling to find a specific contact to reach out to. In this digital era, everything seems easy, but at the same time, not that easy. But believe me, it is all a good illusion. There is nothing wrong with having a hard time finding the right contact or the right information. It happens to everyone, and even I am not an exception.
Today, we are going to break down how to find the right information regarding a specific contact so that you can manage to establish a connection.
It All Comes Down to Two
Phone number and email address. These are the only two powerful channels that give a specific person the ability to reach out directly. Why? SIM and eSIM cards are controlled by the government. That’s the first fact. The second fact is that people don’t change SIM cards often, since convenience comes first for them. You have people living with the same phone number for over 40 years.
Email is another one. Some people do not change their emails either. They may have several personal emails, but there is always one anchor email, as I call it, that is overprotected by 2FA, additional authentication measures, and other rules. So technically, a communication channel that is heavily protected by its owner is also the same channel that they check the most.
Makes sense, right?
The Theory of the Internet
The theory of the Internet says, "whatever bit of information was put into something using an Internet connection is already somehow made public to certain people without you even noticing it." What does that imply? It means that all the people who have somehow interacted with the Internet have, at some point, left their contacts somewhere in that beast.
What does that mean? It means you have a good chance of finding that information.
But How?
That’s the main question. If I know that a phone number and email address are what matter, and if I know that the Internet is where I can find them, how can I secure that bit of information? I would suggest several ways, but I want to give you a certain solution. Let’s go one by one.
Social media is what most people would think of first. They go to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc., whatever, and they try to search for the name, find the person, and leave a message. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, since people have a choice to ignore you.
If it’s a business contact, they would probably try to visit the company where that person works and book a meeting. But that’s not what we are focused on, since we want to find the digital information, the numbers, letters, and symbols, meaning phone numbers and email addresses.
Solution
On the Internet, if you type in "find emails and contacts, and/or phone numbers," you will find database providers that can help you with that. I am not going to tell you their names, just to avoid turning this into an unsolicited advertisement for them. But it works in 90% of cases.
However, it’s not free. You have to pay for it, and the small fee is actually worth it. But beware of phishy websites and always check the feedback before using any service.
Surprisingly, so many people still find it hard to search for these things on the Internet, and they try to make everything look complicated. In the beginning of my career as a talented negotiator, I would always ask myself one question: How do I find a source, a database, that stays updated without my intervention and where I can access information whenever I need it? Is there any company that does that?
The answer was yes. There were many companies. But if I had known about them earlier, I probably would have been more successful. However, it was a decree of God not to do so in the early years of my career. Maybe there was a reason for that.
Conclusion
Sometimes, the answer and/or solution lies somewhere so obvious that it becomes unnoticeable. It’s like hiding a tree in a forest, ideally the same type of tree, with a mark that only you know.
But the very first step to finding a solution is not to make it look difficult or complicated. Try not to dramatize the process of finding a solution, and you will already be 50% of the way there. You will be halfway already.
