Something Definitely Happens
There are periods in your life when you are too different to go back to your previous reality and too unprepared for the new one. Days go on and on, and nothing happens. Everything seems okay, but something feels off. You ask yourself questions like, "Am I stuck with the beliefs I have, the life I have? Is there something better than this? What's wrong with me, or what should I do?" I don't know you, but there were times when I encountered that feeling.
And believe me, if you want something different in your life, you have to disrupt old processes. Disrupt them so fast and clean that it gives you a shock.
Personal Experience
Well, the name of the company I worked for will remain hidden for the sake of anonymity. I worked at a financial institution before, and honestly, it had a great impact on how I see the corporate world and treasury. I gained immense knowledge and experience. Great team, great management, great coworkers.
But something was off. I reached a point where something I had seen for years no longer satisfied me. It simply wasn't appealing anymore, to the point where I wanted to vomit just thinking about it. I said to myself that I needed to change that immediately. A life of constant loans, a minimum salary, doing 10 times more work than you deserve, doing everything yourself, and so on. I didn't like it, but I couldn't see a way out.
I found out that I was stuck in a circle. The same repetitions, day after day, slowly turned me into something else. Automatic behavior. Choosing safety was no longer an option for me.
Get the Fuck Out of Here
Each one of us has this inner voice that somehow speaks with clarity, knows what is right and what is wrong, but we don't listen to it. I cannot explain what that voice was, but when I heard it say, "Just get the fuck out of here," I thought that was the first step.
And I did it. I let go of what was giving me a bad feeling. Life did indeed become easier in some ways because I was a free man, but financially, I was ruined. And it taught me a lot.
And Then Everything Changed
I visited countries, changed companies, and financial stability slowly became a reality for me. Then I looked back and realized that letting go was the best decision I could have made.
And that I worried too much, right? Yeah, we often struggle more in our imagination than in reality. If I could go back in time and meet my younger self, I would tell him to calm down and not take everything so heavily.

The Science Behind It
Psychologists often describe this state as a transition period between identities. The person you were no longer fits, but the person you are becoming has not fully formed yet. Research in psychology suggests that uncertainty during major life changes is not a sign that something is wrong. It is often a sign that old mental models, habits, and expectations are being challenged. The brain naturally seeks stability and predictability, which is why stepping away from familiar environments can feel uncomfortable, even when those environments no longer serve us.
Studies on personal growth and behavioral change also show that meaningful transformation rarely happens without disruption. Whether it is changing careers, ending relationships, moving to another country, or adopting a new way of thinking, growth often begins with a period of confusion and discomfort. What feels like losing control may actually be the process of creating a new direction. Looking back, many people realize that the periods that felt the most uncertain were the ones that changed their lives the most.
Conclusion
When I look back at my own experience, I no longer see it as a story about leaving a job or seeking financial stability. I see it as a story about listening to myself. The difficult part was not making the decision. The difficult part was trusting that life would continue after the decision was made.
If there is one thing I learned, it is that not every period of nothingness is truly empty. Sometimes, when it feels like nothing is happening, something important is taking place beneath the surface. You are questioning old beliefs, reconsidering your direction, and preparing for a different version of yourself. It may not be visible today, but one day you will look back and realize that something definitely happened.
